Network Telephone Services completes Asterisk software upgrade and ports legacy servers into new environment.
The new platform includes many features available in proprietary P
BX systems such as voice mail, conference calling, IVR and ACD. Network Telephone Services clients and account holders can create custom functionality by developing plan scripts in several extension languages. By adding scripted plug in modules (written in C), or by implementing Asterisk Gateway Interface (AGI) programs using any programming language capable of communicating via the standard streams system (stdin and stdout) or by network TCP sockets.
because of the Asterisk implementation and upgrade, Network telephone Services now supports a wide range of VOIP protocols, including the, H.323, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), and Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP).
Asterisk can interoperate with most SIP telephones deployed at Network Telephone Services and within our client networks and offices.
Now supporting a mix of traditional and VoIP telephony services, Asterisk allows Network Telephone developers to build new telephone systems, or gradually migrate existing systems to new technologies. Some NTS clients have retain NTS to replace proprietary PBXes; while others request additional features (such as voice mail or voice response menus, or virtual call shops). Even More are simply interested in the reduced carrier fees by hosting long-distance calls over the Internet and bypassing tolls.
Asterisk was one of the first open source PBX software packages, Network Telephone service has been an Asterisk Solution Provider for clients and internally for over 5 years.
